Born for the happiness or misery of a great nation
On Crisis Magazine there is a wonderful tribute to that, on this day, much-abused and unjustly-reviled king of England, George III. Please do give it a read!
It is very meet and right to call thee blessed, Who didst bring forth God, Ever blessed and most pure And the Mother of our God. More honourable than the cherubim, And more glorious than the seraphim, Who without spot didst bear the Eternal Word, Thee, very Mother of God, We laud and magnify!
Pray to God for me, O Holy Apostle Matthew, well-pleasing to God, for I eagerly betake myself to thee, who art the speedy helper and intercessor for my soul.
The Heavy Anglophile Orthodox is a blog. Its author occupies a tense and largely-unclaimed space on the Orthosphere somewhere between reaction and revolution.
I am an Orthodox blogger, chrismated into the Moscow Patriarchate and member of an OCA parish in Minneapolis. I am also a happy husband and father of two; an ex-expat of China; and a machinist and part-time English teacher based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
I am a Tory radical, although my politics are largely a holdover from my Anglican/Quaker background. My loyalty belongs to the regional culture of the Upper Midwest and Plains states (including Upper Canada), but intellectually I also have Anglophile, Slavophile and Sinophile tendencies. My interests are language, history, genealogy, theology, political œconomy and heavy metal.
